Gunnar Schönborn is the head of post production and owner of TREETOP MEDIA. He spent 10 years in Germany working as an editor for major TV networks Pro7 and Kabel1. After relocating to New Zealand with his family in 2006 he enjoyed a remarkable career at TV3 and TVNZ. He was senior editor and creative head of numerous documentaries ("Remembering Sir Ed", Here to Stay") , TV series ("The Kilian Curse", "Karaoke High") and TV-shows ("Dancing with the Stars", "World of Wearable Arts"). Together with his wife Anja he continues to produce stories for German television and he was editor and technical assistent on the tele feature “Out of the Ashes”, a German - New Zealand co-production. Since TREETOP MEDIA was founded Gunnar has produced dozens of corporate and promotional videos, current affairs stories and documentaries. He is adept at editing online and offline on AVID Media Composer, AVID Liquid, AVID DS as well as on Final Cut Studio and Quantel. |

Anja Schönborn is a journalist by profession, a TV reporter and co-owner of TREETOP MEDIA. She began her career in Germany in 1996 working for a regional TV station and went on to work for several newspaper publishing companies. For some years she worked as a reporter for a number of trend and lifestyle formats for the Pro7 network. In 2002, she took over the editorial supervision of the video-footage production of the BMW Motorsport show. In that capacity she travelled to Formula One races around the globe and worked closely with Juan Pablo Montoya and Ralf Schumacher. Anja also developed PR and marketing strategies for hotels and car parts companies. Later she managed, among other things, the re-working of American license productions for German TV. In her adopted country New Zealand Anja Schönborn works as a freelance author for several German travel magazines and supervises the “Neuseeland Newsletter” which is delivered to over 7.000 German language households. She also researches, organises and shoots features for the German and New Zealand broadcasting market. Anja has written two books (“Ein Jahr in Neuseeland”, Herder Verlag 2009 is one of them) and is currently working on her third . |

Steffen Welsch started his career as c ameraman in 1998. For a number of years he travelled across Europe shooting for some of Germany’s top TV networks (ZDF, ARD). He sh ot numerous travel documentaries and corporate movies for Mercedes and Hugo Boss, just to name a few. Upon his arrival in New Zealand with his kiwi family in 2007, it did not take him long to build a loyal customer base . Here in New Zealand Steffen works as Director of Photography on high-profile TV productions, commercials, Drama and Documentaries. He is adept at using all camera types and formats such as DVCam, Digital Beta, XD-HDCAM, P2 and RED (R3D). Steffen knows the demands of the German as well as the New Zealand broadcasting market extremely well. |

Ken Redmond is a Writer, Producer and Director for more than 30 years. Ken is experienced in all aspects of film and television production, working in 35mm film and the latest digital formats. As former creative director of one of New Zealand’s largest advertising agencies, Ken has written and produced many successful advertising campaigns. He splits his time between Wellington, New Zealand and Rarotonga in the Cook Islands, and now concentrates on documentary film making. His work has taken him to the remote islands of Atiu, Takutea, Aitutaki and Penrhyn, where he recorded the islands pearl divers carrying out their dangerous work in the island’s shark infested lagoon. He has also made documentaries about the South African diamond industry, and the rough and ready lifestyle of New Zealander’s hard driving truck drivers. |

Melanie Wittwer has been working as a freelance translator for the last five years. She started out in the 1990s studying English Literature, German Literature and Film and TV Studies at a German university. In 2001 she immigrated to New Zealand to be with her Kiwi husband. In 2004 she enrolled for an MProf in Translation Studies with the University of Auckland. She liked it so much that she continued on to study for a PhD. She is still studying towards this goal part time. Her translation interests, apart from literature of course, lie in the areas of tourism, education, legal documents and subtitling. Melanie has edited the German subtitles for ‘The Maori Merchant of Venice’ and translated Margaret Mahy’s address to the International Children's Book Day 2007. |
